Iran has taken a hardline stance in the ongoing conflict, saying it has no intention of accepting a ceasefire and warning that oil exports could be completely halted if attacks continue.
Iranian leaders made the statement shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that the war could end soon. Officials in Tehran rejected that assessment and stressed their determination to continue the confrontation.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, wrote on social media that Iran does not want a ceasefire and that aggressors must learn a lesson so they will never attempt to attack the country again.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said that Iran, not the United States, will decide when the war ends. The group warned that if U.S. and Israeli attacks continue, not even a single liter of oil would be allowed to leave the region.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also dismissed the possibility of renewed negotiations with Washington, saying previous talks had shown progress but were followed by military action from the United States.
Meanwhile, Iran recently appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as its new supreme leader. Large gatherings of supporters in Tehran have pledged loyalty to the new leadership amid rising wartime tensions.
