A large-scale rally by the labor union of Samsung Electronics is expected to cause major traffic disruptions near its Pyeongtaek campus.
Authorities announced that a major eight-lane road within the campus area will be fully closed in both directions starting the morning of April 23. The exact timing of the closure will depend on on-site preparations.
A significant number of police personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety during the event. Employees and logistics vehicles are expected to use alternative routes.
The union estimates that more than 30,000 participants will attend the rally, with expectations reaching up to 37,000. The event will include speeches, video presentations, and large-scale coordinated displays.
A smaller counter-protest is also planned, but officials believe the likelihood of clashes is low due to the limited number of participants.
The union leading the rally has recently secured majority status within the company and is demanding changes to compensation policies. If negotiations fail, it plans to launch a large-scale strike starting in late May.
