President Lee Jae-myung emphasized the need for cooperation and shared responsibility between labor and management.
During a senior aides meeting on April 30, Lee stated that companies should treat workers as key partners, while workers and unions should also act with a sense of responsibility.
He highlighted that rapid changes driven by artificial intelligence are transforming industries, making cooperation essential to overcoming upcoming challenges.
Lee also stressed solidarity among workers, warning that excessive demands by certain groups could lead to broader social backlash. His remarks were interpreted as a general principle rather than targeting any specific case.
At the same time, he noted that employers must also take responsibility in maintaining fair labor relations.
The government plans to continue efforts to reduce labor market inequality, improve workplace safety, and enhance conditions for non-regular workers. It also aims to set an example as a major employer.
Additional discussions reportedly covered strengthening protections for foreign workers, expanding youth employment, and improving public-sector job conditions.
