The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly urged Iran to ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and fully comply with the recent ceasefire agreement, highlighting ongoing tensions in one of the world’s most critical energy routes.
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is closely monitoring the two-week ceasefire announced by Donald Trump. The UAE called on Iran to immediately halt all hostile actions and demanded the “full and unconditional reopening” of the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE also claimed that recent Iranian attacks targeted its infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian areas. It stated that Iran launched thousands of missiles and drones over the past 40 days and must take full responsibility and provide compensation for the damage caused.
Beyond the ceasefire, the UAE emphasized the need for a broader and more sustainable agreement. It called for stricter oversight of Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missiles, drones, and affiliated proxy groups. The statement also urged an end to actions threatening maritime security and economic stability.
While reiterating that it is not a direct party to the conflict, the UAE stressed its commitment to defending its sovereignty and security. It also called for full compliance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and greater international cooperation to ease regional tensions.
