The South Korean government has finalized a temporary tax relief measure for multi-home owners.
At a Cabinet meeting led by Kim Min-seok, officials approved revised regulations allowing property owners in regulated areas to avoid heavy capital gains taxes if they apply for land transaction permits by May 9.
The measure accounts for delays in obtaining approvals, ensuring that those who submit applications before the deadline can still benefit from the tax exemption. However, the relief program itself will officially end on the same date.
The Cabinet also passed election law revisions introducing multi-member districts in local elections and increasing proportional representation, which will expand the number of local council members.
Additional measures included legal changes to strengthen patient rights, improve child welfare protections, and support political party operations.
Funding was also approved to prepare for a new major crime investigation agency under upcoming prosecutorial reforms.
