In southern Iran’s Minab, a girls’ elementary school destroyed in bombing during U.S. and Israeli airstrikes has seen its death toll rise to 175 victims, most of them young students.
Thousands of mourners attended a joint funeral service. Some chanted slogans in support of the Islamic Republic.
At the bombing site, personal items such as schoolbooks and play equipment were found among the debris.
Although the school was located near Revolutionary Guard facilities, observers note there was no clear evidence the school itself was used for military purposes.
UNESCO condemned the attack as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
Pakistani human rights activist Malala Yousafzai described the victims on social media as “students with hopes and dreams for the future.”
