China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens to leave Iran amid a significant rise in safety risks, issuing travel support guidance as regional tensions escalate.
In a statement posted on social media, the ministry said that the external security situation facing Iran has deteriorated, and urged Chinese nationals not to travel to the country for the time being. It also advised residents already in Iran to enhance safety precautions and depart as soon as possible.
Chinese diplomatic missions in Tehran and neighboring countries will offer assistance needed for Chinese citizens to move by commercial flights or overland routes if requested, the ministry added.
The advisory comes as tensions in the Middle East have increased, prompting several governments to recommend their citizens leave the region.
