China strongly criticized the United States over its decision to impose a maritime blockade around the Strait of Hormuz.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that expanding military deployment and enforcing a blockade during a fragile ceasefire is a dangerous move that could escalate tensions. It warned that such actions could undermine the ceasefire and disrupt safe navigation in the strait.
China emphasized that a full ceasefire and an end to hostilities are essential for de-escalation, urging all parties to honor agreements and focus on dialogue and negotiations. It also called for the swift restoration of normal passage through the strait.
Beijing also pushed back against U.S. threats to impose tariffs on countries supplying military goods to Iran. China insisted that its arms exports are strictly regulated under international rules and warned it would respond firmly to any additional sanctions.
Earlier, the U.S. began enforcing a naval blockade targeting Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy shipments. Iran responded with strong warnings, signaling possible military retaliation and raising concerns over further escalation in the region.
